Growth is uncomfortable, but better days will come

 Growth.

The way a plant shoots up in the direction of sunlight. The way the stem holds the plant upright, ever-standing, ready to take on the world. The way the flower blooms, spreading smiles and happiness.

We look at the plant and our eyes rest. The soft green - so vibrant yet so calming. A gift of warmth from the Creator.

Little did we know, the plant is truly alive. It breathes, it eats and drinks. Basking in the sunlight, it cooks.

And with life, comes struggle. While it breathes, sometimes it's suffocating. While it eats and drinks, sometimes it lacks the proper nutrients and becomes malnourished. While it basks in the sunlight, sometimes it is not able to reach out far enough to the sun - becoming helpless to make its own meals, to manage itself, and to stay upright.

It knows that it wants to grow. It needs to grow.

But growing takes energy. Growing takes time. It takes practice.

As does healing. As does improving. As does learning.

And so, it learns to be patient. To learn from the past, to live in the moment, and to plan for the future.

It knows that it's not comfortable. But that's okay.

True comfort, it feels, in acknowledging that it is a journey.

A long, arduous journey.

A marathon, not a sprint.

And so,

it can take breaks to stop and take a breather.

To reflect, introspect and gear up.

To refuel, and to be replenished.

For growth is uncomfortable.

But better days will come.
